Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This is an introductory course on Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) covering basic principles of research integrity and research ethics. Participants will be introduced to strategies for dealing with issues and dilemmas that arise in life science research from a RCR perspective. Participants will also learn to identify breaches of RCR by other researchers, e.g. in publications, research proposals and behavior.

Assessment and permitted materials

A lecture will introduce different aspects of RCR in the life sciences. After the lecture, participants will be divided into groups and assigned case studies for discussion and presentation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Reading the relevant literature before the lecture, attending the lecture, active participation in the course and presentation of the case study (group activity).

Examination topics

Participants will shortly present their case, the discussion outcome and considerations in a plenary session (group activity).
