Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Lectures will focus on the following four themes: (1) influence of landform processes upon human activity, (2) consequences of resource management strategies on sediment mobilization within the landscape, (3) identification and mitigation of natural hazards, (4) the role of geomorphic process studies in environmental planning. Case studies to exemplify the four themes will be drawn from biomes and urban settings in every continent.
Assessment and permitted materials
written examination based on lectures and material distributed in class; class attendance essential!
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students become acquainted with examples of solutions for geomorphic induced problems for society and economics. They are able to reproduce them and to apply this knowledge to other geomorphic hazards and problems.
Examination topics
Lecture course, relevant materials will be distributed in class.
